About Monash BreastScreen
Monash BreastScreen is one of the largest BreastScreen Reading and Assessment Services (RAS) in Victoria. It provides screening, mammographic reading and assessment services for over 60,000 women per year in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. The RAS is located at Moorabbin Hospital. There are eight fixed screening sites plus a mobile screening service that visits several locations in the catchment. More than 2000 women are recalled to the assessment clinic each year.
As part of Monash Breast Services, Monash BreastScreen is a key component of an integrated continuum of multidisciplinary care for women from screening and diagnosis through assessment of symptoms, diagnosis and management of breast cancer and benign breast disease.
About the Role
The fellow will gain experience in 2D digital mammography in screening, in addition to extensive exposure to tomosynthesis (3D mammography) and breast ultrasound in assessment clinics . Training in breast interventional procedures such as ultrasound guided needle biopsy and tomosynthesis guided vacuum assisted biopsies ais an integral feature of the training offered.
Attendance, compilation and presentation at the weekly Multidisciplinary Meeting is required with increased exposure to complicated cases and discussion. Exposure to other breast imaging modalities including MRI is facilitated through the meeting and follow up cases.
Working in a multidisciplinary team environment t he position is designed to ensure that the incumbent will be able to report mammograms, perform and report breast ultrasound, assess lesions detected radiologically, including subtle and very small lesions and perform breast interventional procedures.
