Applications for South West Healthcare's 2023 Graduate Mental Health Nurse Program (GMHNP) are now open! We are excited to announce that in 2023 Graduates can apply for two different programs within the GMHNP within mental health. One of our programmes offer a 12 month placement within in the Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit, allowing consolidation of the skills required within the acute inpatient setting. We also offer a Combined mental health program, this offers 6 months within the Community Mental Health setting and 6 months within the Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit to develop a range of skills required in the area of mental health nursing
About our 2023 GMHNP
We believe in providing a highly supportive environment for all Graduate Nurses that encourages professional development and excellence in nursing care. Our aim is to provide structured clinical support during the transition from student to Registered Nurse, whilst encouraging self-directed learning.This 53 week program commencing from February 2023 offers the opportunity for you to consolidate and apply theoretical knowledge by developing skills in a variety of settings. All Graduate Nurses will be employed on a part time basis (64 hours per fortnight) to support work/life balance. There is the opportunity for graduates to complete a further year in the specialisation of mental health nursing on the successful completion of their graduate year.
The GMHNP allows graduates to consolidate their undergraduate learning and build effective evidence-based Mental Health nursing practice within a bio-psychosocial framework. Graduate Nurses will gain experience in a recovery based mental health framework where all staff work collaboratively to assist you to practice to your full potential.All our GMHNP positions are subject to the state-wide Computer Matching process, conducted by the Post Graduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV). All public health Graduate Nurse positions are allocated in Victoria through this Computer Matching Service. To be eligible for our GMHNP you must have a current residential address within Victoria.
