What You Will Be Doing

Successful applicants will work alongside a professional and supportive team of 10 consultant Plastic Surgeons, 6 registrars (2 accredited) and 3 HMO’s. The Unit is based at Frankston Hospital with some lists at nearby Frankston Private Hospital (public lists). Appointed registrars will also have the opportunity to further their plastic surgery exposure by assisting at other local private hospitals.

The unit performs over 3000 Plastics and Reconstructive procedures per year, including hand and wrist surgery, skin cancer surgery, breast surgery, microsurgery, maxillofacial and acute trauma. Unit weekly workload involves elective and emergency theatre lists, assessing patients in the Emergency Department and includes one consultant-led outpatient clinic and four registrar-led dressing / review clinics.

A dedicated plastic surgery office and tutorial room is available for research work and private study. Other features include an excellent plastic surgery library, skills training models, a regular in-house tutorial programme and fortnightly journal club. Unit meetings include Audit, Case Conference and Skin and Melanoma MDT.

Surgical registrars can expect to gain experience in operative surgery, ward & outpatient management of surgical patients, surgical audit and multidisciplinary care meetings.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:

MBBS or equivalent, and be eligible for registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner
HMO4 level or beyond
Create and develop a positive working relationship with team and colleagues.
Act in accordance with the ‘Code of Conduct’ and ‘Workplace Behaviour’ Policies.
