  • MEDICAL- Acute Medical Unit (AMU), General Medicine (5SE), Respiratory Care Unit/Medical Unit (5SW), General Medical and Gastroenterology (5N), Infectious Diseases Unit (9E)

  • SURGICAL- Emergency General Surgery (EGS) (3S), Colorectal and Hepatobiliary Surgery (3SW) or Vascular, Opthalmology, Urology, BOE (9W)

  • TRAUMA- Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) & Plastics (7SE), or Orthopaedics (7SW)




  • Supported Postgraduate study

  • Part time ongoing and fixed term position

What you will need to succeed in any of our services:




  • You are an AHPRA Registered nurse with acute experience and able to work a range of AM/PM & ND shifts, within our supportive and dedicated multidisciplinary team

  • You have effective communication skills and a passion for continued professional development

  • You are ready for a new variety of clinical experiences to enhance your professional growth

  • You have recent acute clinical experience

  • Additional criteria may be required for department specific applications- please read carefully below

About the Service:





Our Acute Medical, Surgical and Trauma Nursing Practice departments at the Royal Melbourne Hospital are currently seeking highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our teams. We are offering supported educational postgraduate nursing programs in our Acute Medical, Surgical and Trauma departments.



Nurses will learn how to recognise, respond to, and manage patients with acute conditions and evaluate care delivery to improve patient outcomes. This course follows a professional development framework which supports nurses in developing higher-order clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills, specialised clinical proficiency and exceptional communication skills required to care for the complex acutely unwell patient.





There is opportunity for employment on any of the wards listed above. Please list one preference in cover letter. Applicants must have minimum 1 year nursing experience to apply.
