ABOUT THE ROLE:

 An exciting opportunity for motivated learners, to gain post graduate qualifications in perioperative/peri-anaesthetic nursing and to join the dedicated team in Perioperative Services at Mercy Hospital for Women. Applications are open for the 2024 intake of the Graduate certificate in Perioperative, Intraoperative or Peri-anaesthetic Nursing at Mercy Hospital for Women Heidelberg in conjunction with our affiliate partner Deakin University.

  •  One year fixed term contract of at least 64 hours per fortnight with opportunities for ongoing employment
  • Commence February 2024
  • Clinical placement is provided by Mercy Hospital for Women with support from Perioperative Management, a Clinical Educator, experienced clinical preceptors and the theoretical component through Deakin University. Further information available on the Deakin University website
  • Deakin University offer three streams of study, Perioperative, Intraoperative and Peri-anaesthetic, all supported by Mercy Hospital for Women
  • Clinical experience is offered in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Uro-Gynaecology, Reproductive medicine, Endo surgery, Oncology, Day surgery, Acute Pain, Anaesthetics and Post Anaesthetic nursing

ABOUT YOU:

  • Essential – 24 months relevant acute nursing experience prior to commencement
  • Prior perioperative/ peri-anaesthetic experience
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills that supports cohesive and collaborative teamwork

Mercy Hospital for Women is a fully accredited Level 6 Public Specialist Teaching Hospital providing both public and private patient care through maternity services, neonatology and paediatrics, perioperative services, gynaecology, women's health and associated health, support and diagnostic services. We are a major teaching hospital and specialist referral centre with the medical, nursing, midwifery and allied health expertise to treat the most complex obstetric, neonatal and gynaecological cases.
