Psychiatry Registrar

Based in Gippsland, Latrobe Regional Health are looking for a Psychiatry Registrar to join our Psychiatry department on a full time basis.

The aim of this position is to provide training experiences in accordance with the training requirements set by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and effective psychiatric health services to consumers and carers referred to the Mental Health Service of LRH under supervision. The registrar will be rotated, in a planned manner, through various components of the Mental Health Service during the training period.

The Registrar will deliver psychiatric services consistent with the current model of care and in accordance with the clinical governance requirements and policies of LRH.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australia Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA)
  • Working towards fellowship of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate and understanding of the Mental Health Act and its application.
  • Clinical competence at a level commensurate with the number of years since graduation of medicine
  • Experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to relate positively and appropriately with patient, colleagues and others
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
