About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fresh, new, integrated approach to efficient public health care delivery, health protection and team building in the Hume region of regional Victoria. The GVPHU team is rapidly growing and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Lead is a leadership role with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing outcomes across the GVPHU catchment

Other key responsibilities for this role are the implementation of existing plans, liaising with key internal and external stakeholders, linkage and networking with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and government agencies. They will work closely with Rumbalara Cooperative, Rumbalara Health and other community organisations, the GV Health Aboriginal Health team, other key GVPHU staff and community stakeholders to assist in delivering public health initiatives ensuring culturally appropriate implementation

We are looking for

  • This is an identified special measures role and only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples are eligible to apply, as per the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in a health, public health, health promotion or equivalent experience.
  • Sound knowledge of Aboriginal culture and experience in working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples/communities and organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to communicate effectively and with impact, both verbally and in writing and via computer systems
