Austin Health is home to the Victorian Spinal Cord Services that deals with acute spinal cord injuries.

  • Victorian Spinal Cord Service- Ward 3 North
  • Austin Campus
  • Permanent Full-time and Part-time positions available - 302hrs/per week

Ward 3 North as the 20 bed Acute & Readmission unit located at Austin Hospital provides treatment for, patients in the acute phase after injury, patients who develop complications of spinal cord injury requiring re-hospitalisation, patients requiring elective procedures.

About the role:

As an Austin Health Nurse you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of evidence-based nursing care in designated medical specialties, in order to optimize health outcomes for the community.

Key responsibilities will see you:

  • Support a philosophy of care, which is patient focused, from admission to discharge, and where the family is welcome in the carers team
  • Ensure the well-being and safety of patients by following the values and principles, which underpin best practice in relation to patient care, education and patient rights
  • Achieve and maintain the skills necessary, through personal professional development, to plan, prioritize and implement holistic patient care

You’ll further have:

  • Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registered Nurse registration
  • Acute clinical experience and knowledge

  • The ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
