About Us

Corrections Victoria (CV) operates Victoria's adult corrections system, including Community Correctional Services across more than 50 locations and manages 11 public prisons, one transition centre and oversees three privately owned prisons. It ensures prisoners are safely and securely contained and aims to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

The Offender Management Division of CV is responsible for providing best practice interventions which aim to reduce the risk of reoffending including quality assurance systems for risk assessment and case management, offending behaviour programs and transition and reintegration supports. The Offender Management Division has responsibility for the post-sentence supervision scheme and is also responsible for the secretariat of the Victorian Adult Parole Board.

The Serious Offenders Act 2018 is a civil, non-punitive scheme that provides for the court-ordered ongoing supervision or detention of serious sex and violent offenders who have completed their prison sentence and pose an unacceptable risk of committing further sexual or violent offences. The new legislation expands the existing post-sentence scheme from applying to serious sex offenders only to also include serious violent offenders.

Located near the rural city of Ararat in south-west Victoria, Rivergum Residential Treatment Centre (Rivergum) is non-punitive in nature and has a strong focus on therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation.
