RACS works with communities and individuals of all ages in the development, restoration, maintenance and self-management of health through the provision of a broad range of services in the home, community and the hospital.

Eastwood Hostel

Eastwood Hostel is a 60 bed residential aged care home located on Kingston Centre grounds in Cheltenham. The home provides general aged care services, aged mental health and dementia specific care. It is part of the Monash Health Residential Services. Most of the residents at Eastwood Hostel are highly functional and while most of the residents are elderly, there are a number of residents under 65 years of age. About the Role

The position of Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Nurse Unit Manager and staff of Eastwood Hostel, including front reception, admission, medical records and general administrative duties.

About You

  • Demonstrated experience in providing a high level of secretarial and administrative support

  • High level of skills in word processing in the Microsoft Office Suite and in using spreadsheets and other software applications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to provide high quality customer service

  • Initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility to work effectively within a dynamic team environment

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

  • Ability to analyse and problem solve complex issues

Demonstrated skills in office administration or secretarial experience


  • Accepts accountability and responsibility for own actions

  •  Ability to read, write and speak English fluently

  •  Computer, keyboard, alpha/numeric skills

  •  Knowledge of varying software programs

  •  Ability to assess and prioritise workload

Other position requirements:

  • As we support a culture of safety and quality through employee immunisation, there must be documentation provided confirming completed immunisation on employment at Monash Health

  • Current and satisfactory Police Check (must also comply with Aged Care Act 1997 Accountability Amendment Principles 2012 if working in Aged Care setting)

  • Current and satisfactory Working With Children Check as per Monash Health ‘Child Safe Policy’ and the Working With Children Act 2005

  • Participate in annual performance development discussions with your manager and complete all mandatory and role specific competencies

  • Successful applicants new to Monash Health will be required to enter into an Employment Agreement prior to commencement
