The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine is Australia’s most comprehensive forensic medical facility. We serve the Victorian community and the whole of the Victorian justice system, especially the courts.

About us

The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) is an independent statutory authority governed by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine Act 1985. It is part of the Justice portfolio of the Victorian Government.

The work of the VIFM can be described as a cycle of three parts:

  • providing forensic medical and scientific services and tissue banking
  • learning from this work
  • researching and teaching.

About the role

As an Administration Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • providing comprehensive administrative support to the Deputy Director and Manager,  Academic Programs
  • undertaking administrative tasks including managing processes, providing services, responding to queries where required by the Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine
  • providing a professional service to students and staff within the Department of Forensic Medicine
  • undertaking planning and coordination of courses and programs.

The role works across both the Department of Forensic Medicine, Monash University and the VIFM supporting collaborative research and teaching. While employed by the VIFM, the role is a joint appointment with Monash.

About you

As an Administration Officer, you will possess:

  • demonstrated experience in the provision of administrative support in a scientific, research, medical, health or education environment
  • demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office applications including word processing, excel spreadsheets, along with Moodle and Callista or similar student management systems
  • demonstrated commitment to high quality, superior customer service delivery
  • knowledge of university procedures and policies, especially those related to student administration.

Keys to your success will be your highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills including the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
