The Administrative Support Officer will be responsible for a range of administrative support functions for the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court so as to support operational requirements.

About us

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.

The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year.  The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

About the role

The Administrative Officer is responsible for providing administrative support to the Manager of the Cash Office at Melbourne Magistrates' Court.  Tasks will include processing of daily banking, receipting and disbursement of funds, entering data into MYOB, administration of court processes and monthly reconciliation of trust accounts. Other duties may also include file management, processing and responding to enquiries from various court users, provide general support to the Senior Registrar and the management team as well as other Court staff, some staff supervision and other administrative duties throughout the building.

Duties include:

  • Processing banking and banking funds into Courts accounts, recording funds into & out of these accounts
  • Processing data into MYOB
  • Receipt payments, disburse & reconcile monies held in trust
  • Coordinating and administering finance & HR processes
  • File management & archiving
  • Other administrative duties as required
  • General administrative support to the Senior Registrar and the management team
  • Staff supervision

Rotation throughout the various Registries of the Court is an expectation.

About you

You will have the following skills and attributes:

  • excellent computer skills, previous MYOB experience is preferred
  • be an effective communicator who actively listens and responds appropriately
  • works well with others and encourages and inspires others
  • anticipates, plans and coordinates to meet business needs
  • be committed to delivering quality outcomes and service to the various stakeholders of the Court.
