An exciting opportunity currently exists for enthusiastic Aged Care/Geriatric Medicine Registrars to join the Continuing Care Division from February 2023
Austin Health is part of the Northern Training Alliance with 17 positions available for advanced trainees in Aged Care/Geriatric Medicine. Both the Austin and Northern health services have been reaccredited for training by the RACP in 2022.
Austin Health offers the opportunity of a key leadership position available to a 3rd years advanced trainee namely as Geriatric Medicine Fellow, located at Austin Health but with Northern training alliance responsibilities.
Registrars rotate through positions at Austin, Northern & Bendigo Health. A full range of aged care services including inpatient care (Rehabilitation, GEM, Transition / Delirium / BPSD support, Orthogeriatrics), consultative / liaison service, Community Rehabilitation Centre, ambulatory clinics (Geriatric Medicine, Wound management, Falls and Balance, Memory [CADMS], Continence and Chronic pain, Rapid assessment / Hot clinic), Telehealth and community care (Aged Care Assessment Service, residential aged care facility consultations [Residential Outreach], Better@home, Older Persons Complex Care (OPCC) and other Community Programs) are available across the sites. All ward positions are supported by an HMO or Intern. Research opportunities are also available at each site, in areas including dementia, continence, service provision and development. Support for investigator initiated research is available and encouraged.

The Centralised Match for Advanced Training in Geriatric Medicine in Victoria in 2023 will be conducted by the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) on behalf of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Victorian Geriatric Medicine Training Program (VGMTP). All Victorian sites accredited for Advanced Training in Geriatric Medicine by RACP will participate in the match.
