Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer, Casual

(Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified position) 

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer (AHLO) to join our Ngarra Jarra Aboriginal Health Program.  This is a casual position (required to replace leave) Guaranteed 3 days of work per month for this year (2021)  on top of other requests to replace leave within the team. This position is predominantly based in acute health with the opportunity to work across campuses as required. 

Austin Health considers that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s 28 of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic). This role will suit someone who has experience working in Aboriginal communities. Additionally, we are looking for someone who has good communication skills, computer skills, can multi-task and can work with people from a variety of backgrounds. Previous experience in providing support and advocacy to Aboriginal families in the health services industry is desirable, but not essential.
