About the role:

As an Analyst within the Investigation and Intelligence Team of Taskforce Reset, you will be part of four Analysts responding to day to day activities to support Taskforce Reset functions.  Reporting to the VPS4 Senior Analyst you will work closely with other analysts, investigators, and personnel within Taskforce Reset.

Taskforce Reset was established to continue the discovery and disclosure obligations relevant to historical criminal prosecutions associated to the Victorian Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informers. The taskforce also co-ordinates the implementation of recommendations made by the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informers in November 2020. The taskforce includes a multi-disciplinary team of sworn, VPS and contracted Lawyers and Barristers.

Taskforce Reset utilises specialised software (Ringtail) to record and disclose relevant material to prosecuting agencies, the Special Investigator and matters before the Court of Appeal. The ability to utilise this software efficiently will be essential to achieving objectives.

Your duties will include:

  • Undertaking day to day analytical tasks including information collection individually and as part of a team.
  • Supporting the intelligence functions of investigators and other units within Taskforce Reset.
  • Undertaking the collection, evaluation, collation, analysis and controlled dissemination of information in respect of Taskforce Reset tasks.
  • Preparing routine reports, developing and maintaining computer-based intelligence applications and holdings as well as manual information systems to assist the intelligence process.
  • Participating in workgroup meetings and the tasking and coordination process.
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Experience in the field of intelligence analysis or similar.
  • Highly developed communication skills including the ability to liaise with a diverse range of internal and external personnel and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to plan and organise work and produce high quality results.
  • Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills and the proven use of initiative in solving problems.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of research and analysis techniques, information and intelligence management processes and needs in intelligence analysis, strategic planning, criminology or other relevant academic disciplines.
  • A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct, Financial Code of Practice, and the Organisational Values.


Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) full-time, fixed term (until 31/12/2023) position available.
  • This position is located at the Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street Docklands 3008.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with the Acting Chief Health Officer's Direction – COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions, you are required to be fully vaccinated (this includes a booster vaccination) and your employment with Victoria Police is subject to proof of vaccination.
