What You Will Be Doing

Peninsula Health currently has a opportunity for a passionate and client centered senior psychologist to join our Alcohol and Other Drug Program on a permanent full-time basis. Working as part of a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team the psychologist will provide evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions to promote recovery for clients experiencing substance use related harms.

Deliver evidence-based, psychotherapeutic interventions that are relevant to the complex co-morbidities of individuals, aged 55+ experiencing harm from substance use (including brief interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy and harm reduction).

Provide pre and post-withdrawal care that addresses psychological, social and behavioral problems associated with substance use as required.

Ensure the effective delivery of clinical assessments, care planning and discharge planning.

Provide secondary consultation

Provide supervision and day to day management of Older Wiser Lifestyle’s multidisciplinary team and Grade 2 psychologists within our AOD and forensic mental health program.

Maintain and continue to develop research projects or pilot projects, training opportunities and ensure the promotion regarding the relevance of older adult-specific models of AOD interventions to the community, the healthcare sector and key stakeholders.

Ensure that funded programs specific to Older Wiser Lifestyles Services meet targets as per funding agreements

Deliver evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions to individuals, families and groups

Provide high quality intake and assessment services via telephone, online and face-to-face modalities
