About the role:
The Yoorrook Justice Commission – Australia's first, and an internationally significant, truth-telling body – was formally launched on 24 March 2022.
Victoria Police is committed to supporting the truth-telling process being led by the Commission.
To coordinate Victoria Police's role in this important work and undertake related strategic projects, we have established the Yoorrook Justice Commission Response Taskforce. The Taskforce will be a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers, policy and research professionals, archivists and records officers, and police members.
Working in the Taskforce provides an opportunity to contribute to an official record of the impact of colonisation on Traditional Owners and First Peoples in Victoria, and work towards healing, system reform and practical changes that will increase cultural awareness and safety across Victoria Police, continue to improve our practices and look toward building trust with the community.
We are currently seeking an experienced Archivist to lead and coordinate a team in a range of projects to identify, index and list records to increase access. The role will involve historical research using archival records and facilitate search and retrieval of relevant records for digitisation.
This position will report to the Unit Manager, Victoria Police Archive Services Centre, as part of the Yoorrook Justice Commission Response.
Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and supports flexible working arrangements.
