About Us

Corrections Victoria is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's adult correctional system. Its standards, policies, strategies and programs hold prisoners and offenders to account, contribute to public trust in the criminal justice system, and make a difference to the lives of prisoners and offenders to reduce recidivism and strengthen community safety.

The Security and Intelligence Division provides security and emergency services, electronic monitoring, and intelligence services, and works with other law enforcement agencies to maintain a secure and safe correctional system.


About the role

A key function of the role is to lead all functions within the division in the development and co-ordination of Victoria's corrective services capabilities, including intelligence, security and emergency response, and system-wide support functions; and to set strategic direction that builds and maintains the divisions' reputation as a leader in correctional security and intelligence management.

Fostering a culture of strong collaboration and inter-relationship, the Assistant Commissioner, Security and Intelligence operates within a complex and dynamic environment and reports directly to the Commissioner, Corrections Victoria.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Lead the security and intelligence functions in Corrections Victoria, including the development and implementation of new initiatives and technologies to enhance existing operational and systems capabilities.
  • Drive the development of security and intelligence-related strategies to meet legislative and policy changes, through robust evidence-based strategic analysis, and operational strategic risk and threat assessments.
  • Provide authoritative operational and systems-themed advice to the Commissioner, Minister for Corrections, and senior departmental management on security and intelligence matters within the correctional system.

About you

We are seeking a strong operational leader with

demonstrated expertise in the delivery and management of a security and intelligence service within a law enforcement or correctional setting coupled with the ability provide expert advice to senior stakeholders that will influence key decision making.
