About Ward 41 - General Medicine


Ward 41 provides holistic care to General Medicine patients accommodating up to 36 patients.  Patients are admitted to General Medicine with a wide variety of acute medical problems who can be discharged to a variety of settings including home, other health care services and aged care services.  We pride ourselves on the delivery of high quality care and strive for positive outcomes and experiences for our patients and staff. This is a fast paced work environment that provides opportunities and challenges for staff.


We are a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team environment who work closely together to care for patients along with providing opportunity for staff development and growth in areas that staff are passionate about.


About the Role


We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Associate Nurse Manager in a part time temporary capacity who wish to progress their nursing career in experiencing leadership and mentoring as well as enhancing their clinical knowledge.


You will work in supporting the Nurse Manager to ensure the provision of safe and effective care as well as assist with the efficient management of the ward on a shift basis.


This is temporary position for 12 months from the 10th August 2020 at 0.6 EFT (48 hours/fortnight).


About You:



  • At the heart of your practice is the patient and providing patient centred care always.  You have a ‘can do’ attitude, are proactive and have exceptional time management and critical analysis skills. 

  • You are an enthusiastic and accomplished nurse with excellent clinical skills combined with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.  You are committed to team work and ongoing professional development aligned to Monash Health values and vision. 

  • You have demonstrated the ability to lead your colleagues by example, provide coaching and support to nursing colleges and other staff. You are passionate about mentoring and growing others and are committed to being an advocate for patients and their families. 

  • You expect a very high standard of care to be delivered to patients and support your team to deliver upon this ensuring accountability is maintained.  You understand the importance of discharge planning and maintaining patient flow to support all areas within the hospital. 

  • You thrive in a supportive learning environment, are innovative, seeking to undertake portfolio work and other non-clinical responsibilities to contribute to the overall running and continued improvement of the ward.


What you need:



  • Clinical Leadership/Management experience, is ideal however a passion for career development is essential

  • Demonstrated Nursing experience, minimum 3 years

  • Willingness to manage and develop a portfolio contributing to ward quality improvements & National Standards
