About our Residential Aged Care with Mooraleigh Hostel - Monash Health

Our Residential Program offers the full range of residential services including: Low care (hostel), high care (nursing home), ageing in Place, respite care, dementia and also specialised care, across 5 dedicated locations of South East Melbourne.  We practice a social model of care delivered by qualified nursing, allied health, lifestyle and support staff, also having access to the medical and mental health expertise.


Mooraleigh Hostel, located in Bentleigh East, is a 29-bed mental health unit. Our focus is to support older people with complex mental and physical health issues. We aim to help our residents maintain a sense of wellbeing, have choice in their lives and continue to feel valued members of the community.


About The Role


Your leadership will play a pivotal role in delivering quality care and effective functioning of the unit, providing clinical support to the team and to deputise for the Nurse Manager when required, along with delivering high quality service to our residents.


You will be responsible for care planning and assessments; medication and Drs rounds as well as supporting the wider Mooraleigh team as well as the ability to manage clinical and operational emergencies.


We currently have opportunities for experienced Associate Nurse Manager’s to join our leadership team. The positions are Full Time ongoing opportunities however Part Time applications will be considered. These roles will be on a rotating in nature, including AM, PM and night shift across a 7-day roster inclusive of both 8 and 10 hour shifts. If you are preferable to night shift, this could be the role for you as you will routinely be rostered to work nights.


We provide ongoing support with guidance, training and promote opportunities for personal growth through your nursing career which includes study leave should you wish to pursue post graduate studies.


About You


With a background in leadership, whether that be in residential services, subacute or an acute area of Nursing, you will be a natural leader, one who can lead by example, provide support, have strong communication skills, and have the ability to step up in the absence of the Facility Manager.


You will have a genuine passion to assist our elderly consumers and provide exceptional nursing care understanding the challenges that present with this area of nursing including behaviours of concern which are associated with our consumers Mental Health diagnosis.


You are resilient, with a non-judgemental approach, having already experienced challenging situations in the workplace.  You will have a strong, adaptive, and consultative management style with well-developed communication skills; both written and verbal.


What you Need



  • Previous nursing experience within Acute/Subacute/Residential Services with Mental health as an added advantage

  • Post graduate qualification in Mental health OR commitment to undertake Mental Health studies to support your leadership role, highly desirable

  • Previous Leadership experience either as an ANM or incharge, essential

  • Current AHPRA Registration

  • Current Employee Working with Children Check

  • Working rights in Australia
