About Our Facility

Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is one of Victoria’s largest regional health services with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 9,000 staff and more than 1200 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 30 key locations throughout the region.

About the Gastroenterology Ward

Birdsey wing 7 is a 16-bed ward, encompassing gastroenterology and general medicine. The staff are highly skilled, professional, friendly and dedicated, taking pride in providing high quality, safe healthcare. The ward is located at University Hospital Geelong in the heart of central Geelong, and only minutes from the picturesque waterfront and a short drive to some of Australia's best beaches.

About the Role

As the ANUM, you will ensure the effective provision of patient care in the assistance of nursing staff in the areas of patient welfare, comfort, hygiene and transport in order to achieve and maintain quality patient outcomes.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering consumer centred care that meets best practice standards and is in line with Barwon Health requirements
  • Providing quality patient care using an evidence based approach
  • Participation in regular audit processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory bodies is maintained
  • Takes a leadership role in strategic and daily issues with well-developed problem solving abilities
  • Sound level of nursing skills and is easily identified as a role model of clinical competence
  • Sound knowledge of team function and ability to work and support  a cohesive team
