Two exciting new opportunities have arisen at BRHS to assist lead our dedicated medical/surgical nursing team and enjoy a rewarding and supportive environment providing a range of opportunities for growth.

The Contracts: Ongoing, Part Time 64.0 hours per fortnight and Fixed term until 15/01/2023, 48.0 hours per fortnight.   

The Position:

In this role you will be an integral member of the Tambo ward leadership team providing excellence in nursing care and supporting the Nurse Unit Manager to ensure best practice clinical care is delivered.  This is a rewarding and diverse role offering a great chance to use your knowledge and skills in a leadership role and advance your nursing career.  Our combined Medical/Surgical ward is a modern unit consisting of 34 beds with 2 bariatric beds and a 4 bed higher acuity area.  Care is provided for a large spectrum of medical conditions as well as post-operative care for gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ENT, general surgery patients.  The ward has facilities for cardiac monitoring via both mobile telemetry units and fixed monitors. 

What you need:

• A minimum of three years recent clinical experience in surgical and/or medical nursing.
• Experience in team leadership and care co-ordination.
• Well-developed high acuity nursing skills with a good understanding of and commitment to providing patient centred care.
• Advanced clinical assessment and care planning skills including a good understanding of principles of escalation of care.
• A demonstrated understanding and ability to facilitate patient flow and early discharge planning.
• Well-developed decision making skills with the capacity to determine the best course of action in a timely manner.
