About the facility

Barwon Audiology provides comprehensive diagnostic hearing care to paediatric and adult patients, and is based at the University Hospital Geelong with two satellite clinics at the McKellar Community Rehabilitation Centre and at Barwon North. Services include infant diagnostic electrophysiological assessments, identification and management of auditory disorders in children with special needs, auditory processing and vestibular function assessments, and inpatient audiological bed based care. Recently we have also developed a Telehealth model of Audiology practice to enhance our face to face diagnostic services. Under the directorate of Allied Health, we work closely with a range of allied health and medical professionals to ensure effective and holistic patient centre care, from the acute hospital environment through to community based settings.

Barwon Health has recently been successful for regional specialist clinic state government funding to support the high demand for Ear, Nose and Throat specialist care in the Geelong region. This presents an exciting opportunity to work within the Barwon Audiology team to provide paediatric, adult and vestibular assessments within a multi-disciplinary clinic collaborating with Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists, Psychologists and Ear Nose and Throat Specialists to provide diagnosis, rehabilitative treatment and therapy to consumers across the region.

Our dynamic team of 12 Audiologists and 3 Allied Health Assistants will work together to:

  • Perform a range of diagnostic hearing and balance tests for paediatric and adult patients.

  • Be part of a multidisciplinary team, providing collaborative care to optimise ear and hearing health outcomes.

  • Improve access to ear and hearing health services for consumers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.

  • Be actively involved in the supervision and training of Masters of Audiology students from the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University.

  • Have access to continued education and the unique opportunity to further develop your diagnostic skills.

  • Participate in clinical research and translation of evidence into our practice.

About the role

This role is an exciting opportunity for a Grade 1 Audiologist to work within a large regional hospital Audiology team to provide both adult and paediatric assessment and care.
