Agriculture Victoria Services Pty Ltd (AVS) was established by the Victorian Government in 1986 to provide a commercial interface between its agricultural research and development activities and the private sector. Today, AVS is widely recognised for protecting and commercialising technologies generated by the Agriculture Victoria Research Branch (AVR) of the State of Victoria's Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR).

About the opportunity

Reporting to a Senior Commercialisation Manager within AVS, the Commercialisation Analyst provides research, analysis and commercial evaluation support for the delivery of AVS agricultural technology value modelling services for related IP licence negotiations and investment management.

The AVS Commercialisation Analyst is primarily required to undertake commercial and route-to-impact strategy analysis, devise and deploy suitable financial models to support and inform AVS technology investment propositions, AVS agtech valuations for AVS' licensing and investment decision-making and commercial licence and option agreement negotiations with AVS' technology licensees and collaborators.

About you

To be successful in obtaining this role you will have experience across: 

  • Sourcing market intelligence data, analysing and developing business plans, marketing strategies and investment propositions.
  • Highly developed ability to model the market value of research outputs and technology IP rights.
  • Highly developed communication skills including an ability to work within a team and independently.
  • Experience in market data gathering and assessment of commercial technology, preferably in a technological and/or agribusiness sector.
  • An understanding of emerging international ag-biosciences, ag-genomic and ag-biological technology markets and key global players in the arena.
  • An understanding of IP protection and the registration of patents, PBR's and trademarks.
  • An understanding of key terms in collaborative, contract R&D and technology evaluation and licence option agreements.
