Forest Fire Management Victoria are looking for people who want to join our forest firefighting team to help protect the Victorian community this summer.

Each year, we employ field based seasonal firefighters to assist with planned burning and the prevention and suppression of bushfires in parks and forests.

Our seasonal firefighters complement our permanent firefighting staff and are responsible for bushfire suppression and prevention activities including planned burning and other fuel management works such as clearing, mowing and slashing.  

It's a job where no two days are the same. Seasonal firefighting is a great way to make a contribution, be challenged, work as part of a team and develop career pathways.

Positions available (generally between November and April) for a period of 26 weeks (minimum) include:

  • Firefighters – includes positions designated for Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people
  • Rappel Crews – specialist crews
  • Fire Support Officers – more administrative type roles

These positions would suit people who have a high level of fitness, are sound decision makers, passionate about protecting their community and looking for a unique challenge.

Salaries commence from $952 per week plus superannuation.

Qualifications and Experience

You don't need any previous work experience in similar roles to apply. Training will be provided, and positions are open to people who:

  • Have a high level of fitness.
  • Are a team player.
  • Hold a current manual driver's license.
