Victoria Police have an exciting opportunity for a professional ICT Business Application Advisor with experience in Investigations and Brief Management systems to work as part of a specialised team responsible for maintaining and developing our key Investigations, Brief and Legal Management Platforms and Services. This role is ideal for professionals who have worked as SME in the space of Policing Investigations and Court processes with an understanding of technology and functional needs in that space. As the ideal person for this role, you are a fast learner and a confident self-starter who is naturally curious and passionate about and using technology as an enabler to improve business capability and efficiency. You will be an excellent communicator who can effectively bridge between technical and not-technical personnel.

The incumbent will ensure the operation of Victoria Police's key Investigations and Brief Mgt Platforms are kept at the highest possible standard in accordance with defined ICT frameworks and processes. You will be working in a professional, highly dynamic, and established team of ICT services professionals and will be regularly exposed to the various disciplines that Victoria Police operates in.

Your duties will include:

  • Provide SME expertise and support around the IBLO suite of applications.
  • Manage our various 3rd party vendors ensuring a prioritised pipeline of enhancements and upgrades to maintain existing IT Assets functional fit.
  • Oversee vendor BAU activities to maintain SLA's for application availability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain solution documentation for identified priority functional enhancements.
  • Provide technical advice and directions to our support vendor with our existing Investigation Management Platform.
  • Provide tacit inputs into business workshops in gathering requirements and business rules.
  • Leading continuous improvement programs within our work unit to constantly advance in our way of working.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in developing, maintaining and continuously improving ICT products and services in accordance with industry recognised frameworks, standards and systems within a large, highly complex environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills together with demonstrated strong written communication skills.
  • Extensive experience in the development, maintenance and ongoing improvement of a governance framework and the management of outsourced service providers.
  • Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the Region/Department/Command.
  • A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct and the Organisational Values.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with organisational policy, all Victoria Police employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including a booster vaccination) against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exception. As such your employment with Victoria Police is subject to providing evidence of your vaccination status.
