Position Summary

The Chief Communications Officer at the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing is the principal adviser to Ministers, the Secretary, departmental senior management, and external stakeholders on high-level departmental strategic communications and media matters. The Chief Communications Officer is responsible for leading and managing the Communications team, ensuring the work of the department is clearly communicated to the Victorian public and key stakeholders.

The Chief Communications Officer also plays a key driving and leadership role in ensuring the effective development and implementation of Communications and Media strategies, standards, channels and products.

Are you

  • A proven leader with extensive experience in the media, public affairs or communications fields.
  • A leader who can balance multiple stakeholders with a proven ability to understand the sensitivities of working within a public sector environment
  • A leader with a demonstrated ability to prepare and implement complex internal and external communications and issues/risk management strategies and processes.
  • Able to maintain strategic alignment and relevance of communications strategies with overarching business objectives and initiatives as well as emerging trends and changing needs of the organisation.
  • Able to lead a team of communications and media professionals through excellent people leadership and teamwork skills at a senior level.
