The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to provide a critical role within the Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme.
About the Business Unit
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and visionary senior executive to lead the establishment of a major system change for victims of crime. Highly anticipated by victims and stakeholders, the new Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) represents a fundamental change in the Victorian Government's response to providing financial assistance to victims of crime.
The FAS will replace the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal with an administrative scheme that provides financial assistance that is timely, simple, fair, and responsive in supporting victims to manage the impact of crime on their lives.
About the Role
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) (Scheme Decision Maker) will be responsible for building an organisation that ensures the objectives and guiding principles embedded in the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022 (the Act) are brought to life, and victims of crime receive the recognition and financial assistance to which they are entitled.
The CEO (Scheme Decision Maker) will be a critical member of the senior executive team that sits under the Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination Group within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (department), with responsibility for an annual operating budget in excess of $15 million with a staffing complement of approximately 80 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) employees.
