About the role

Grampians BreastScreen is currently recruiting for a Designated Radiographer to join our quality driven screening and assessment clinic in Ballarat, this role is suited to an imaging professional with several years’ experience working in the profession.   This is an exciting opportunity for a team-orientated person seeking a flexible work/life balance in iconic Ballarat. The role works closely with the Clinical Director, BreastScreen Program Manager and Deputy Chief Radiographer to deliver a seamless, professional and contemporary mammography service to our BreastScreen clients.

Breastscreen Victoria is a government-funded organisation dedicated to reducing the mortality and morbidity from breast cancer through early detection. The Grampians service incorporates screening services in Horsham and Hamilton and the Grampians Health screening and assessment clinic located at the Queen Elizabeth Centre.

Key Responsibilities

In conjunction with the radiography and mammography team  and the other members of the multi-disciplinary BreastScreen staff group, the Designated Radiographer is responsible for the delivery of a quality screening outcome and efficient and effective operation of the Grampians service. This approach incorporates maintaining mammography equipment, effective staff management, maintaining the high standard of quality mammography and delivery of respectful, excellent care and support to clients from diverse backgrounds and with different care requirements.

Key Selection Criteria

Qualifications and experience

  • Hold CMP (Certificate of Mammographic Practice)
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Current Department of Health-issued  Radiation User Licence

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills

  • Extensive experience in screening and diagnostic mammography
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with quality assurance/quality improvement processes.
  • Well developed knowledge of BreastScreen Australia programs and understanding of the National Accreditation Standards

Work Environment

  • Sound knowledge of information technology systems, Microsoft office and experience with PACS/Digital Radiography
  • Evidence of and commitment to professional development
  • Ability to recognise risk and work with the team to remediate and alleviate the risk going forward
