Occupation: Community Services

Salary Range: $70,791 - $85,956

Work location: Various

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) works hard to create equal opportunities for all Victorians to live a safe, respected and valued life. Our areas of focus are child protection, housing, disability, the prevention of family violence, multicultural affairs, LGBTQI+ equality, veterans, women and youth. The work we do benefits thousands of Victorians, particularly those who are disadvantaged and vulnerable. We work in a variety of community-based settings, including people's homes, residential facilities and secure settings across metropolitan, rural and regional Victoria. We are committed to developing and supporting a workforce that is well equipped and highly motivated. All jobs can be worked flexibly and we encourage applications from Aboriginal people and people from diverse backgrounds and abilities.

DFFH are looking for entry level (CPP3), Child Protection/child and family welfare professionals to join our Intake team with multiple locations across the State being available.

What is Intake?

The role of intake is to receive reports for children and young people at risk of harm or where families are unable or unwilling to protect them. Intake will then conduct a risk assessment based on the details within the report. This may see you liaising with a variety of professions to gather more information about the child and their family before making a decision that further investigation by child protection is required, or the case needs to be referred to community service organisation.

If you are a new practitioner into Child Protection, Intake is a great starting point to find your feet within the Children and Families Sector. Intake provides opportunities for more experienced practitioners to further develop risk assessments skills and play a part in the continuous development of a contemporary intake service

Applicants are encouraged to apply online, submitting a cover letter and a current resume.

Preferred candidates will be required to complete pre-employment screening, including a national police check and misconduct screening.

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa. Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment process.
