About Our Strength2Strength Team

The Strength2Strength program is a client-centred, trauma-informed therapeutic response for children and their parent/s who are victims of family violence. This multidisciplinary team comprises practitioners from a range of clinical backgrounds where there is a strong focus on collaboration and shared clinical knowledge. There are excellent opportunities for skill building through the team, as well as through regular formal supervision from the Australian Childhood Foundation. Staff enjoy a positive working environment with satisfaction from effecting goals with a strong family-centred approach working closely with team members supporting the adults as well as the children.

What You Will Be Doing

This innovative permanent, part time 4 day per week position for a Psychologist contributes to the therapeutic Strength2Strength team responding to parents and children affected by family violence. Located in a multiagency, multidisciplinary team, this position supports families by outreach and centre-based work across the Bayside-Peninsula Area. Centre-based appointments are staffed one evening per week. In addition to managing a caseload, the clinician will provide consultation and expertise to the multidisciplinary teams in Strength to Strength and Community Health.

What You Need

• Hold and maintain current registration with AHPRA.
• Demonstrated capacity to deliver therapeutic interventions for victim survivors of family violence.
• Established skills and commitment to working in child-centred and family-focused practices including skills in working with vulnerable and disadvantaged families.
• Advanced ability to assess the psychological performance of the child considering their physical, cognitive and psychosocial aspects, their environment and determine appropriate intervention in relevant settings.
• Aware of, interprets and applies psychological theoretical frameworks and constructs
• Highly effective interpersonal communication skills.
