Health Information Services (HIS) at Sandringham operates during business hours Monday - Friday and covers a range of services including:

  • The retrieval, supply and maintenance of medical records for direct patient care

  • Providing and maintaining an efficient record storage system in which patient information is kept safe from loss, damage and unauthorised access

  • Providing Health Information to both internal and external requestors for planning, research, education, patient care, freedom of information requests and other purposes in accordance with hospital policies and statutory requirements

Your contribution  

  • To provide an efficient and effective Health Information service to internal and external customers

  • Perform clerical duties relating to Health Information under the direction of team leader or HIS Coordinator

  • Provision of coverage for other HIS staff who are on sick or on annual leave i.e. to be flexible to work day shift potentially at short notice

Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • retrieval, preparation & tracking of medical records

  • attending to enquiries, as well as filing pathology and correspondence

  • compiling, maintenance and culling of medical records

About you

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

  • speed and efficiency while paying attention to detail, coupled with good communication skills

  • the ability to work as part of a small team or autonomously when required

  • the flexibility to work day shift as required to support sick or annual leave requests
