About Allergy & Immunology Services at Monash Children’s Hospital

Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) cares for more than 100,000 children per year, providing care across the continuum of paediatric services from pre-natal to 18 years of age.  It is one of the largest children’s hospitals in Australia and one of only two tertiary paediatric hospitals in Victoria. MCH is co-located next to Monash Medical Centre in Clayton and is a purpose-built paediatric facility where clinical services will be delivered in a child and family-friendly environment.

Melbourne has the highest documented prevalence of challenge proven food allergy in the world, with 1 in every 10 infants affected.  As a result, we are excited to announce the new Allergy & Immunology Service now available at Monash Children’s Hospital for children and their families. The Allergy & Immunology Service is collaboration with consumer groups, primary health networks, and community paediatricians and allergists to deliver an efficient, effective and equitable model of care.  The development of an integrated pathway supporting consumers, GPs and community paediatricians will allow the majority children with allergy in SE Victoria to be seen locally and rapidly, with specialist services at MCH seeing the most severe cases, and providing safe testing and food challenge services at Monash Children’s Hospital.
