About the role
Adult acute Inpatient services at Box Hill Hospital consists of one 25 bed unit with 5 bed Intensive Care area. The units provide care to consumers aged18-65, who live within outer East and Central East catchment areas. We are seeking an experienced Registered nurse with demonstrated leadership skills to join our MDT.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Essential:
- Registered Nurse with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
- Post-graduate qualification relevant to mental health nursing or completion of specialist undergraduate mental health nursing program (or a specialist post basic course of training which lead to registration as a Division 3 nurse under the Nurses Board of Victoria).
- Minimum of 5 years varied experience in the area of mental health with demonstrated ability to work with diverse and complex clinical presentations.
- Compliance with the Code of Ethics and legal requirements of the nursing profession
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary workforce.
- Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and interpersonal with demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as an effective team member at a local and organizational level to deliver organizational outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, utilizing well developed critical analysis skills to achieve efficiency and effectiveness
- Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical supervision arrangement.
- Current recipient of individual clinical supervision, in addition to current provider of clinical supervision to less experienced nursing colleagues
- Active leadership in Recovery Oriented Practice in line with the National Recovery Framework and principles of Eastern Health’s Collaborative Recovery Model.
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to practice utilizing the recovery approach in mental health treatment and support, with a focus on working collaboratively with consumers and carers to promote self-determination and enable progress towards reaching personal recovery goals.
- Excellent knowledge of Mental Health Act Vic 2014 and its associated principles
- Demonstrated negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated record of achievement of quality service delivery.
- Membership of relevant specialty Professional Association.
- Proficient in a range of electronic applications including but not limited to CPF, CMI, PFM, Microsoft, Outlook, Excel or as relevant to role
- A sound working knowledge of, and commitment to, working with consumers from a wide range of ethnic and social backgrounds and providing services that are family and gender sensitive.
- A current Victorian driver license.
- Demonstrated experience and skill in working with consumers with a dual diagnosis.
- Evidence of leading a quality improvement or research activity in a specific mental health setting.
Additional desirable attributes:
- Masters qualification in area of mental health nursing expertise.
- Training or qualification in the areas of Solution Focused Therapy, Sensory Modulation, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Developmental Psychiatry Course or other therapies
- Post-graduate qualifications in leadership and/or management.
- Research, publication and public presentation experience.
- Flexibility in working hours to provide leave cover as negotiated.
