MidWest Area Mental Health Service (MWAMHS)

  • Full Time position working 80 hours per fortnight with a monthly ADO

We are inviting applications from Clinical Psychologists (Grade 2) to join our multidisciplinary public mental health team at the St Albans Community Care Unit. Applications from Clinical Psychology Registrars will also be considered.

  • St Albans Community Care Unit (CCU) is a 10 unit complex accommodating 20 beds, with 24 hour nursing care support.  

  • We strive to provide recovery-focused rehabilitation in a community residential setting, to consumers who typically have multiple and complex needs.

  • We work collaboratively in a supportive environment as part of a multidisciplinary team, engaging with consumers, carers and community agencies in order to foster reslience, personal growth and healing in people seriously affected by mental illness.

Your new role:


The St Albans CCU Clinical Psychologist has a number of responsibilities, which include but are not limited to the following:

  • Along with being the designated Key Clinician for your consumer(s), the psychologist can provide secondary Key Clinician support.

  • Provide diagnostic clarification, and complets a variety of psychological assessments.

  • Prepare reports explaining assessment findings and outline relevant recommendations for the consumer, carers and other CCU staff.

  • Completes functional analyses and develops behaviour and/or risk management plans as clinically indicated

  • Provides evidence based interventions for symptom management and facilitates both discipline-specific and general group programs.

  • You are a motivated Clinical Psychologist who is committed to continued learning and developing your clinical skills

  • You have a passion for caring and making a genuine difference in the lives of public mental health consumers

  • You enjoy being part of a dynamic team and draw on the experience of your colleagues yet are confident to work autonomously

  • You communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.

Your Experience:

  • Experience in providing psychological (including cognitive) and psychosocial assessments interventions, individual and family counselling, group work, advocacy and community development and education.

  • Knowledge of psychology and ability to translate findings into recommendations

  • Understanding of consumer engagement and multidisciplinary working.

  • Skilled clinical practitioner with excellent interpersonal skills and sound I.T skills
