Family Work Clinical Specialist – HYPE

  • Exciting career opportunity for an experienced Family Worker and Senior Clinician
  • Ongoing part-time (0.5 EFT) multidisciplinary role – open to OT4, SW4, P4 and RPN5
  • Based in Parkville

Your new team

Orygen Specialist Program provides mental health services to young people aged 15-25 (soon to be 12-25) and their families/carers in Melbourne's northwest and western suburbs.

The Helping Young People Early (HYPE) team provides evidence-based early intervention for young people experiencing borderline personality disorder (BPD) and other personality disorders, and other co-occurring mental health difficulties. HYPE’s model of Relational Clinical Care comprises assertive clinical case management, general psychiatric care, individual psychotherapy (using Cognitive Analytic Therapy), family work and other supports such a vocational-educational support.

About your new role:

  • Provide high-quality family-inclusive consultations, based on clinical experience working with young people experiencing personality disorders and other complex mental health illnesses
  • Provide clinical leadership, support, supervision, primary and secondary consultations to members of the multidisciplinary team regarding family-inclusive practice principles and approaches
  • Provide high-quality clinical care for the families/supports of young people in HYPE
  • Manage and undertake mental health and risk assessment, psychological treatment, crisis intervention, family work and systems containment, for the client/carers/system
  • Be a knowledge resource for Personality Disorders and Family Work and build the role of family work within the HYPE Stream and the wider Orygen service
  • Participate in training and research pertaining to family-inclusive pratice, personality disorders and youth mental health

About You:

  • Comprehensive experience in clinical practice within the mental health field, including young people with personality disorders
  • Qualification in Family/Systems Therapy, training in Single Session Family Consultation Framework, and knowledge and training in family-focused approaches in mental health
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate client-centred individual service plans, risk assessments and diagnostic formulations
  • Knowledge of the rationale and evidence for early intervention in mental illness
