The Role:


The Clinical Support Nurse works in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Managers to provide facilitated learning and leadership at the unit level to develop high quality clinical care skills with staff.  The role also contributes to hospital wide education programs within the areas of their expertise.  The Clinical Support Nurse is an advanced clinical nurse who stimulates enquiry, reflection and the use of evidence in clinical practice to promote excellence in family centred care and advance practice change.



To be successful in this role you will have:


Essential



  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)

  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Profession al practice Portfolio

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of adult learning and learning management systems

  • Extensive acute paediatric clinical experience

  • Small or large group teaching experience



Desirable:



  • Post graduate certificate/diploma in Nursing, Education, Paediatrics or equivalent

  • Clinical Nurse Specialist or equivalent

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment or equivalent

  • Preceptorship experience and knowledge



Other Requirements:



  • Employees are required to undertake a National Criminal Record Check and a Working with Children Check prior to commencing employment. 

  • Employees are required to maintain a valid Working with Children’s Check throughout their employment. 

  • A current,  full drivers licence for the State of Victoria which is appropriate for the type of vehicle being driven, and comply with any restrictions on their licence (e.g. wearing glasses) while undertaking hospital duties (If applicable) 


Employees are required to maintain compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure.
