Clinic Transport Communications Officer (CTCO)

Ambulance Victoria (AV) plays a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of our community by delivering high quality ambulance services and providing exceptional patient care. As Victoria's only state-wide health service, AV occupies a unique role in the public health system, continuing to evolve our services to meet the growing and increasingly complex needs of Victorians, to connect every patient to the right pathway of care – whether hospital emergency or alternative pathways.

AV is seeking an experienced Clinic Transport Communications Officer to provide non-emergency patient transport for our Operational Communications Department. This position allows you to contribute to community by applying your people and time management skills to support the patient experience.

This is a permanent full time, position currently based in East Burwood, working Monday to Friday, across a 4-day rotating roster.  Shifts are 10 hours and have a rostered staggered start.

About the role

The primary function of this role is to provide a professional, customer focussed service by effectively coordinating Clinic Transport Services resources (including car, wheelchair hoist etc) to ensure the customers' needs are met with comfort, safety and in a timely manner.

Reporting to the Lead Communications Clinic Transport Services, the responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Efficient planning and timely dispatch of dispatch of clinic transport services resources
  • Booking facilitation, including service re-allocation and trouble shooting
  • Comprehensive geographical knowledge of Melbourne
  • Using CAD/radio/telephone products
  • Relationship management with patients, hospitals etc

About you

You manage your time and the customer experience by maintaining ongoing contact with customers to enhance and develop relationships with all parties, hospitals, patients, their families, and your team. You are organised and attentive, you also work well in a team that is cohesive and responsive. 

  • Certificate III in Non-emergency Patient Transport or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in a Communications Centre environment (desirable)
  • Experienced in working in a medical environment e.g., ambulance, nursing etc
  • Use of internal booking/dispatch system and to accurately record information and reports

The successful candidate must have a current Victorian Driver's License, a National Police Check, to hold or obtain a Working with Children Check.

The salary range for this position is $62,768 - $84,044 plus superannuation and excellent AV benefits. The expectation is that employees will commence at the base of the grade applicable to a position.
