The Casey Area Mental Health Service is led by an innovative and supportive leadership team seeking to provide a high quality recovery based model of mental health care that will continue to develop with our growing community in the South East growth corridor. Teams are based in both inpatient and community sites offering collaborative care to clients experiencing mental health difficulties within our area.

About the Service

Psychiatric Triage Service (PTS) is the pathway for clients with mental health issues into the Monash Health’s Mental Health Program. The Psychiatric Triage provides advice and support to clients, to further determine the next appropriate course of action.  Based at our Endeavour Hills centre, and working as part of a supportive team, you will take calls from all age groups, covering the Casey, Cardinia and City of Greater Dandenong areas. Due to upgrades in our telephone system, there is the capacity to work from home on some shifts following inductions and orientation to the service.  

About you

You will have specialist knowledge, skills and experience in the assessment and short term treatment/support of mental illness. You have demonstrated an ability to quickly and autonomously work within a multi-disciplinary team and to provide specialist treatment/support of mental illness. Ability to assess and review risk, complete a mental state assessment and determine the best response for the client in a timely manner. To be successful in this role you must have good communication skills and knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014 and an ability to type efficiently

To be successful in this role you must have a high level of attention to detail and the ability to accurately record information in a timely manner. In this permanent role, your flexible availability is key to being rostered across all shifts, 7 days per week (Monday to Sunday).  Initially you will work day and afternoon, eventually expanding to being rostered night shift as well.

You will possess

  • Relevant qualifications and current practicing registration (aligned to position description)
  • Substantial experience in community-based assessment of people presenting with both acute and chronic mental health issues
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer literacy skills with CMI, Electronic Medical Records, Microsoft 365 applications such as Word and Excel
  • Australian working rights
