Do you have post graduate qualifications in coastal process science, oceanography or geomorphology, and skills in analysing coastal data and numerical modelling?

We have a position for a Coastal Processes Science Officer to develop knowledge outputs for the Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program. The role will help determine trends in shoreline behaviour, coastal hazard impacts, and drivers of shoreline change across Victoria, to be used for decision making on coastal projects, policy and planning.

Experience in field-based coastal data collection, software coding (e.g., Python, Matlab) and hydro-morphodynamic numerical models (e.g., SWAN, XBeach), and proficiency with GIS software would be highly regarded.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

• A post-graduate qualification (Masters or PhD) specialising in coastal processes, with a record of publication in peer reviewed scientific journals. May include coastal engineering, oceanography, geomorphology, and related disciplines.
• Advanced proficiency in obtaining, analysing, modelling and producing research outputs relating to coastal processes data. This includes field-based coastal data collection experience (drone-pilot license preferred), advanced code-based skills (e.g., Python, Matlab), experience with hydro-morphodynamic numerical models (e.g., SWAN, XBeach), and proficiency with GIS software.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 months.
