About the branch

The Marketing, Communications and Partnerships Division oversees all marketing, tourism, visitor experience, partnership experience, digital, media, communications and public relations activities to support Parks Victoria.  

The focus of the Communications and Public Affairs team is to establish and represent Parks Victoria's brand and public reputation, through effective engagement as well as public, community, partnership, corporate communications, media relations, and reputational management. 

About the role and your responsibilities

As the Communications Advisor Communities & Inclusion, you will be responsible for the planning, delivery and measurement of communications to encourage diversity and inclusion in nature and building greater connections between communities and the Parks Victoria estate. You will implement state-wide approaches for profiling accessibility initiatives, health activations, economic development, social recovery, volunteering, promoting responsible visitor behaviours, and enhancing relationships with CALD communities and park neighbours.

Your position will support actions which align to the Contributing to Healthy, Liveable Communities focus in Parks Victoria's Shaping Our Future corporate strategy through strategic communications which create high quality content and public information to engage community members and stakeholders, while effectively managing potential risks, issues and crises to protect our public reputation.

We are looking for an individual with the following qualities:

  • A qualification in Public Relations, Communications, Media or Marketing or similar.
  • Experience working in communications. Working within a government environment would be an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills combined with the ability to interact confidently and sensitively with people at all levels, elicit cooperation through negotiation and persuasion, and work self- sufficiently or as part of a team.
  • Strong writing skills, being able to write for multiple mediums.
  • A current employee Working with Children Check is required.
