About the Team

The Safer Roads Program is delivering a record investment on Victorian Roads to improve safety and reduce lives lost under the Towards Zero Strategy and Action Plan 2016-2020. The Safer Roads Communications and Engagement Team oversee the delivery of community and stakeholder engagement and communications on behalf of the program to inform and involve them in decisions that affect them.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Manager, the Communications and Engagement Advisor delivers communications and engagement for road safety projects across South West and Western Victoria. The role is responsible for:

  • developing program and project communications and engagement plans, and implementing communications and engagement activities targeted at community and stakeholders
  • developing communications collateral, such as fact sheets and social media posts
  • working closely with key stakeholders including regional staff and project engineers to provide clear advice on communications and engagement
  • identifying, mitigating and escalating communications and engagement issues and risks

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • proven experience in engagement and communications, with project experience in the transport, infrastructure or road safety areas being desirable
  • excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to communicate with and write for a variety of audiences
  • experience of working within the IAP2 spectrum of public participation
  • a proactive problem-solving approach that wants to get things done
