Reporting to the Head of Portfolio and Strategic Communications, the Communications Manager, Equality and Veterans plays a critical role in delivering media communication services on behalf of the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
You will build a high performing team and manage the strategic and portfolio communications activities relating to the portfolios of Equality and Veterans, while building and maintaining effective professional relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
This role will ideally suit a confident professional in leading and delivering media communication with experience in leading a skilled team of professionals. Your critical thinking and problem-solving skills will drive you to manage multiple, high level and sensitive communications issues and implement the best communications approach.
The role also provides leadership across the Communications and Media Branch.
As appropriate, they may also be required to provide support to other teams across the Branch as and when required, including participating in out of hours media and emergency rosters, providing support for public emergencies, large-scale communications campaigns and other high priority projects, to contribute the effective management of work across the Branch and department.

  • Have exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders?

  • Have experience in developing, delivering and implementing strategic communications plans?
