This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse to join the Community Services team as the Community Nursing Team Leader!

Community Nursing Team Leader

 Permanent Full Time – 80 hours per fortnight

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Registered Nurse to join the Community Services team as the Community Nursing Team Leader!  MDHS Community Services has recently undergone a restructure and as a result this exciting opportunity is on offer in this new role.   In this role you will work with the Operations Manager Community Services to ensure appropriate planning process and the effective allocation and management of community nursing resources. The role will provide you with a challenge and allow you to be part of a dynamic, growing service supporting a rural community.

We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Ability to act as mentor and provide clinical support to all members of the team
  • Basic Life Support Certificate

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualifications / Experience

  1. Registered Nurse with a current registration to practice from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of Primary Health Care Principles, contemporary nursing theory and practice, chronic disease management, health promotion and health population and demonstrates clinical expertise in applying this knowledge.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of community service funding principles.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of diverse needs in rural and disadvantaged communities
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage staff, provide guidance and support in all aspects of the role
  6. Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal, organisational, communication and problem solving skills.
  7. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact and relate to a diverse range of individuals and groups.
  8. Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation and community health framework documents.
  9. Demonstrated experience in meeting accreditation requirements.
  10. Extensive computer literacy, with knowledge of current software

Specialist Expertise

  1. Advanced clinical nursing and assessment skills with extensive experience in Community Based Nursing 
  2. High level of skill in managing community nursing referral's and clinical decision making.
  3. Manage and engage with stakeholders in line with MDHS' strategic direction and values of G.R.E.A.T.
  4. Experience in change management and development of new services/structures
  5. Knowledge of relevant legislation, including a working knowledge of the National Standards.
  6. A highly developed knowledge of, and commitment to, Quality Management and accreditation processes.
  7. Ability to act as mentor and provide clinical support to all members of the team.
  8. An understanding of or willingness to learn about Community Dental Services

Personal Qualities

  1. Strong leadership skills demonstrated by knowledge of contemporary Human Resource policies and procedures, workforce needs, reward and recognition programs and performance management processes.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
  3. High level written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Commitment to ongoing education and professional development to ensure working within current scope of practice.
