About the Role

The role is for a consultant psychiatrist based in the adult inpatient ward at Dandenong Hospital. The position will provide clinical leadership to oversee the management of inpatients, supervise junior medical staff and ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act. Additional roles include participation in the after-hours on call and ECT rosters

The position holder will be supported by senior registrar, registrars, junior medical staff and the multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, OTs, social workers, psychologist, drugs and alcohol worker and other support staff.

Qualifications/ registrations/ licenses


  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of PsychiatristsWorking with Children's Certificate

Credentialing and Scope of Practice

As part of the application process, the incumbent must complete the Credentialing and Scope of Practice process prior to appointment and commencement.
