About the service
Our Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Service (MHDAS) service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients. The department supports a wide range of psychiatric services including general adult psychiatry, child & adolescent psychiatry, old age psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, rural psychiatry (Colac), eating disorders, substance misuse disorders, perinatal psychiatry and research psychiatry. We have a strong commitment to excellence in clinical education and research activities (the IMPACT & CHIME units) and a dedicated focus on preparing senior trainees for consultant practice.
About the roles
Barwon MHDAS currently have a variety of opportunities for psychiatrists to work within our acute services, including consultation liaison, bed based, eating disorder service, hospital in the home and our emergency services. We also have opportunities for consultants to work in our community health centres and specialist departments, including AOD, child and adolescence and eating disorder programs.
Please note that FTE is negotiable to suit individual circumstances and professional development goals.
In all positions, you will provide leadership in the provision of high quality Psychiatric Services to patients, consumer and clients in his or her care. You will act as a delegate of the authorised Psychiatrist as defined in the Mental Health Act 2014 and contribute to the Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Program of the service.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Applicants must hold the FRANZCP, be accredited as a supervisor by the RANZCP, and be registered with general or specialist medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
