We're not just about removing - we're building, we're connecting, we're revitalising, and the Cost Control team at LXRP are busier than ever. We are on track to remove 110 level crossings across metropolitan Melbourne by 2030 and we also recently acquired the Geelong Fast Rail Project. As such, we need a new Cost Control Officer to join our team at our West Program Alliance based in Footscray.

Reporting to the Senior Cost Controller, you'll be responsible for assisting the Cost Controller in maintaining the Project Controls System to ensure data integrity and accurate reporting is provided in a timely manner, as well as;

  • Assist in the preparation of the Owner participant progress claims.
  • Assist with processing invoices including cost coding.
  • Preparation of month-end accruals and submission to finance.
  • Support the Work Package Team by undertaking necessary internal tasks as required.

This is a 3-year fixed term, full-time position, paying a salary between $91,418 and $103,725 plus superannuation. The role will be performed in a flexible working arrangement with a combination of working from home and our offices in Footscray & the CBD. (2 days from home, 2 days from Footscray, 1 day from CBD).

About you

You are a self-motivated, high performer with direct experience in the cost control field on major infrastructure projects, with exposure to a major transport infrastructure project being highly desirable.

Prior experience in project controls, cost forecasting, cost estimating, quantity surveying, or project accounting and a relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering or Quantity Surveying is also highly desirable.

As the ideal applicant, you will demonstrate excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills, together with solid interpersonal and communication skills.

We are also interested in candidates who don't hesitate to ask difficult questions and seek support when necessary.

  • We use our role as leaders in the transport sector to provide secure pathways into the industry for women, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, people living with a disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, refugees or asylum seekers and people facing barriers to employment.
  • We offer and encourage flexible work practices and purchased leave arrangements for all of our employees to support wellbeing, family or carer commitments or other personal circumstances.
  • We place great importance on growth, empowering our people to enhance their knowledge, capability and experience through continual learning, formal training and lessons learned.
  • Health, safety and wellbeing are at the heart of what we do. We focus on the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of our people to create a safe and healthy workplace for everyone, every day, everywhere.

What next?

If we've sparked your interest, introduce yourself by submitting a CV via the ‘apply now' link and responding to some briefing questions about your experience. That's enough, we do not need you to provide key selection criteria.

As part of your application, you'll also be asked to answer the following questions:

  1. What motivated you to apply for this role and how does it align with your career path?
  2. The LXRP values are Creativity, Accountability, Relationships, Empowerment, and Safety. Select the value that resonates with you the most and detail how you demonstrated it in a previous role.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which include national police checks and misconduct screening. Please be advised that it is requirement for all MTIA staff to be compliant with the MTIA COVID-19 Vaccination Policy (the Policy).

The Policy stipulates that, unless an employee is an Excepted Person within the meaning of the Policy, in order to attend an MTIA workplace the employee must hold ‘up-to-date' vaccination status in accordance with ATAGI guidance, which for most includes their primary vaccination course and booster. Should you require further information about the Policy, please have a conversation with our Talent Acquisition team.
