About us

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

About the role

The Court Advice Officer works closely with and supports the Court Operations, the judiciary and the Court's Leadership Group to provide research and advice to a broad range of enquiries from Government agencies and departments, court users and the general public. The Court Advice Officer evaluates and advises the Court's senior management and judiciary on proposed changes to Magistrates' Court of Victoria practices, procedures and relevant legislation and policy.

About you

• Demonstrated knowledge of legislation, practices, policies and procedures applicable to Victorian Courts and Tribunals
• Ability to interpret legislative reforms and report on operational impacts for the organisation
