  • Provide Courts Business subject matter expertise in a complex government IT project environment
  • VPS Grade 4 – Melbourne Location

  • The Courts Business Analyst role provides the opportunity to build key professional relationships, and apply subject matter expertise, and grow your professional expertise in a complex government project environment.
  • Work within work within the CMS Project, bringing Courts expertise from their relevant jurisdiction into the development of the CMS solution.

About Us

The 2017/18 State Budget provided significant investment in the Victorian courts and tribunals to deliver a modern, technology enabled, citizen focussed courts service. This included funding for a project to procure and implement a new configurable Courts case management system (CMS) for the MCV and ChCV. Currently, management of court cases is supported by existing case management systems, however, several of the Courts IT systems are nearly 30 years old, and many elements are unsupported. As a result, the current case management systems do not provide a robust, reliable or flexible foundation for the contemporary work of the Courts. The successful implementation of a new CMS is a fundamental aspect of a solid, but flexible, foundation to reduce risk and support the Courts' in delivery of their critical functions. A new CMS for MCV and ChCV has been deemed a priority by the Victorian Government due to the growing number of cases in these jurisdictions, as well as the need to better support family violence cases managed through the ChCV, and a need to modernise systems to support changing community and court needs.
The CMS Project team has undertaken an exhaustive procurement process to identify the most suitable product and supplier to provide a ‘Configurable Courts Case Management Solution'. The Project is now in the Implementation Phase to deliver the CMS solution to MCV and ChCV.

About the Role

The primary purpose of the role is to input and translate their Courts experience into five key elements of the CMS Project development, namely:

  • Supporting the Solution Development through the input of understanding of Magistrates' or Children's Court operations, processes, technology and legislation to the development process

  • Supporting the testing of the developed CMS solution

  • Supporting the development of change documentation for the CMS solution

  • Assisting with change management and communications with the wider Magistrates' or Children's Court staff and Judiciary

  • Supporting the training of Magistrates' or Children's Court staff and Judiciary in the new CMS solution

About you

  • Operational and registry expertise within MCV or ChCV is required

  • Strong knowledge of the Criminal jurisdiction is required

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to work across a number of teams/functions to identify platform and tool enhancements

  • Ability to communicate with a diverse range of Court users including administrative staff, management and Judicial Officers

  • Willingness to understand and be trained in the new CMS to support the development of the new solution

  • Highly flexible, responsive, and adaptable to change in an iterative project environment

  • Ability to conceive how the new tool may facilitate new and better ways of doing things
