 THE ROLE

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing are now accepting applications from overseas candidates.

The Senior Child Protection Practitioner (non-supervisory) is responsible for supporting and developing Child Protection Practitioners in the integration of theory and practice whilst demonstrating their expertise through case practice, working collaboratively with the Team Manager to strength case practice, provide effective service delivery and support other practitioners. The Senior Child Protection Practitioner may be responsible for receiving and assessing reports of alleged abuse and neglect of children and young people, undertaking investigations, and developing plans to bring about the changes necessary to ensure the safety, stability and development of children and young people and to promote the achievement of case plan objectives within specified timeframes This may include taking matters to court. The Senior Child Protection Practitioner maintains a full case load, is a senior member of the team and works collaboratively with the Team Manager to provide effective service delivery and support to other practitioners.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

1.1        Risk assessment and analysis - gathers information through a variety of sources and technologies in order to identify, articulate, and plan for the risks relating to each situation. Applies a strong forensic lens, and professional judgement, to analyse the available evidence.

1.2        Case planning review and case management - draws insights from assessment and analysis to formulate a meaningful and effective case plan, and reviews case progress and outcomes. Co-ordinates and leads the planning, review, and management of casework within DHHS and across other agencies and services.

1.3        Critical enquiry - uses evidence based frameworks to investigate issues, and is able to understand the root cause of each issue as well as the potential implications.
